Advanced Placement Courses
vs
Dual Credit
Advanced Placement is a nationally recognized program run by collegeboard.com to provide a rigorous curriculum of study in specific subject areas.
Dual Enrollment allows a student to earn college credits while still in high school. These course credits can be transferred to a degree-granting institution, depending on the policy of the college or university. Our P-Tech students attend Eastfield College.
Benefits: Students who enroll in and successfully complete Dual Credit and/or AP courses experience a college-level class while enjoying the support provided at home. Research shows that students who participate in dual credit and/or AP programs are more likely to be successful in college (i.e. maintain a passing average and obtain a degree) than those who do not participate.
